What do we do? Well…at Wright Robertson we are niche wine producers in Australia’s newest wine region “New England, Australia”. In the late half of March and early April we think we’ve got just about one of the most perfect climates in the world and we’re blessed to have our grapes ripen just then.
Our vineyard is situated 18km south of Glen Innes just near the village of Glencoe on the New England Highway. Our elevation is at 1150m above sea level. In 2002 we started crushing Shiraz grapes from our 1999 planting of 1 hectare. We now have 3 hectares of grapes, share-farm another 2 hectares and buy small parcels of grapes from other premium producers around the New England.
We’ve got two labels today, our premium Wright Robertson range and our Minus Twelve range. While we make Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, SSB and Chardonnay…our enduring success has been that of our Black Poll Shiraz which many people from around the region now are very fond of as their local drop.
We’re a small team, there’s my wife Julie, Kathryn who is like a little sister and does our marketing and books and lastly myself Scott…I make the wine.
